Alon Surf Stay Review

My family visited my parents’ hometown last year. Despite already staying near the ocean, we still decided to book at a resort just to temporarily get away from every day life.

Our chosen piece of paradise was Alon Surf Stay at Puraran Beach, Baras, Catanduanes.

We booked our rooms directly thru their Facebook page. The admins were responsive and flexible in terms of the number of guests. We originally booked three rooms, but after some time, they said that we could only book 2 rooms because of another reservation. Eventually, they offered a free room upgrade, and so we decided to pursue with the trip. Anyway, the page admins were accommodating and agreeable. It was an easy transaction overall.

Here are some of the things I remember from the trip:

Rooms: We booked 2 rooms, and one of them is the penthouse. If you want to see the best sunrise and sunset view in your stay here, I suggest to book the penthouse. Besides the balcony, you’ll also have access to the rooftop which has an even greater view.

Dining Area: This is one of my favorite features of the resort. It’s an open space dining area where you have the ocean and mountain views. During the day, the view is simply breath taking, while at night, the nice breeze and the lighting of the place help provide a great dining experience.

Food: The food is quite pricey, but given the location, I guess it’s reasonable. Plus, they cook the food themselves, so it’s guaranteed that you’d be eating fresh food.

Pool: Alon Surf Stay has an infinity-style pool. If you’re at the balcony of your rooms, the pool view would look nice.

Distance from the beach proper: Like with some resorts in the area, you would have to walk along the cemented path go access the beach proper. Others might find the path steep, but if you have proper footwear, it won’t be a problem.

Overall, we had an enjoyable stay at Alon Surf Stay. It was short, but enjoyable. Should I return to Catanduanes, I’d make sure to go back here just to see these views again.

April 2020 Book Wrap Up

Having special leaves at work due in an effort to minimize the number of people at work enabled me to read books and listen more to audiobooks especially when I’m at home.

It’s also an interesting reading month since I like almost everything I’ve read this month. Below are the books I’ve finished:
